Workers in Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo have been advised to develop attitude of forgiveness, in order to enjoy bountiful blessings from the Almighty God. The admonition was given by a member of the College Pastoral team, Mr. Paul Adebayo, while delivering a sermon at the April edition of the College-organized monthly prayer meeting held on Monday April 3, 2017 in the institution.
Describing forgiveness as commandment from God, Adebayo said anyone wishing to have fellowship and good relationship with the creator, must ensure that he or she forgive those who offended them.
While expressing unhappiness about what he described as display of act of un-forgiveness by some people in contemporary society, the preacher advised against the act, saying God would only forgive those who followed His commandment and live a righteous life.
He quoted several passages from the Bible such as Mark 11: 25, Genesis chapter 37, 1 John 3 v 8 as well as Romans 12: 20 to buttress his points and emphasized the need for Christians to shun anger, so as not to offend God.
His words: ‘’ Forgiveness in a must for all believers and a commandment from the Almighty God. We need to forgive, because God forgave us our sins ‘ If we want to enjoy fellowship with God, achieve deliverance and promise of a glorious end, which He promised us, then we have toas a matter of necessity, forgive those that offend us’’ he remarked.
Also echoing the views of Adebayo, another member of the pastoral team, who is also a lecturer in the Department of French in the College, Mr. Oluremi Johnson Falade, stressed the need for Christians to live holy and abide with all the commandment of God as stated in the bible.
Falade lauded the College Management for supporting and identifying with the monthly prayer meeting and urged staff of the institution, to continue to participate in the exercise and discharge their duties favourably with the fear of God.
The prayer session which featured exhortation, song renditions climaxed with offering of prayers for peace, unity, progress in the College, Ondo community and Nigeria in general.
It was attended by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Acting Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi; Deans and Directors, Heads of Departments and units includingHead Information and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Moses Akinfolarin, staff and students of the College among others.
