Provost tasks students on academic performance

Newly admitted students in Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo, have been advised to pay more attention to their studies, in order to achieve excellence in their academic pursuit.

The advice was given on Tuesday January 7, 2017 by the Provost of the institution, Prof. Olukoya Ogen in a remark made on his behalf by his Deputy, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, at the 2016/ 2017 orientation programme organized for the students.

While congratulating them for being lucky for securing admission into the institution out of about 8,000 candidates who made the College their choice in the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, Prof. Ogen advised the students  to be of good behavior at all times by refraining from negative acts,  that could truncate their dreams and  aspirations.

The College helmsman also emphasized the need for the students to be law abiding, exhibit good moral, and pay maximum attention to security matters.

Stressing the importance of peaceful co-existence, Prof. Ogen advised the new intakes to always be their brothers’ keeper.

 He equally reminded them of the need to work for good certificate, so as to be able to secure nice employment in the current globally competitive labour market after the completion of their studies.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Dean Students Affairs (DSA) in the College, Mr. Olaniyi Olaluwoye, described the exercise as epoch making and beginning of journey to greater and fulfilled heights in the institution.

While stressing the need for the students to make good use of the admission given to them, Olaluwoye, however, enjoined them to abstain from acts such as cultism, drug addiction, examination malpractice, prostitution and other social vices which could lead to early termination of their academic career.

He expressed gratitude to the College Management under the leadership of Prof. Olukoya Ogen for the financial support giving to his division to enable it organize  the orientation programme and assured the students that the College would sustain the culture of academic excellence for which it is known.

The programme featured presentation of lectures in various topics which include ‘’ The College Community and You and The College Organogram’’, ‘’ Students and Financial Interactions in the College’’, as well as ‘’ Rules and Regulations Governing Students Registration for Courses and Assessment Procedures, Calculation of GPA/ CGPA, Lectures and Continuous Assessment’’, which were presented  by Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, a Deputy Registrar, ( Division of Pensions and Staff Matters) who represented the College Registrar, Mr. Felix Eniola Aderinboye; Mr. Taye Martins  Omotayo who represented the Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul and Dr. Folorunso Balogun, Dean School of Science and Chairman Committee of Deans respectively.

The event held at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture theatre was attended by Principal Officers of the College including the Deputy Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Registrar, Mr. Felix Eniola Aderinboye; Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul and Acting College Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi.

Others include Deans and Directors, Heads of Department and Units, staff from the College Music Department, Information and Public Relations Unit to mention a few.
