College Provost, Ondo Coop officials laud ACE Coop society’s performance

Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo, Cooperative Multipurpose Society (ACECMS) No 1 has been lauded for recording impressive performance in year 2016, by the Provost of the institution, Prof. Olukoya Ogen.

Prof. Ogen who spoke through the College Acting Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi, gave the commendation in a remark made at the 30th Annual General Meeting of the society, held on Thursday February 16, 2017 at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium in the institution.

While lauding the out-going executive members of the ACECMS No1 for their contributions to the growth of the association, the College administrator, also expressed satisfaction over what he observed as impressive performance of the Cooperative society, even in the face of the current economic situation in the country.

The Provost also commended the organisation for organizing a free, fair and credible election for its new executive members, as well as its decision to embark on the establishment of a Micro-Finance Bank, stating the development would go a long way in adding values, not only to its members, but to the College community in general.

He reiterated the decision of his administration, to continue to identify with organisations, willing to contribute to the progress of the institution, and appealed to members of the ACECMS, to join hands with the leadership of the association, in their effort at achieving the goals for which it was founded.

Similarly, in their separate remarks, the Deputy Director II, Cooperative Services, Ondo State and Ondo West Local Government Area Officer of the organisation, Messrs E.A Fasola and Meroyi Bamidele respectively lauded officials of the ACECMS for effective service delivery and impressive financial performance in year 2016.

While emphasizing the need for the Cooperative body to sustain the progress recorded, the two cooperative officials urged members to remain loyal, honest and truthful in their dealings with the association.

They also appealed to them to show more commitment to the body, so as to enable it achieve the purpose for which it was established by its founding fathers.


Delivering the Management report for the 2016 financial year, the outgoing President , Mr. E.A Orunko, thanked the College Management under the leadership of Prof. Olukoya Ogen, for providing moral support and enabling environment for staff and members of the Cooperative society to operate freely without any interference.

Orunko also appreciated the College Management, for ensuring timely release of the monthly cheque-off dues of members, stating that the development has contributed positively in boosting the financial capacity of the association.

He listed some of the achievements recorded in the organisation in year 2016 to include full computerization of the society’s account and records, provision of household equipment for members, establishment of borehole drilling project, construction of modern bakery factory, relocation of society’s cybercafé to new location, extension of the size ofits supermarket, establishment of Bee keeping ventures as well as incorporation of Limited Liability Company and Leasing of the Society Restaurant to a private businessorganisationamong others.


The out-going ACECMS No1 President, used the occasion to solicit for new members, and assured that the organisation, would not relent in provision of excellent services and good returns on members’ investments.


The climax of the event which also featured presentation of the Society’s financial report for year 2016 by the Treasurer, Mr. Obamoyegun Joseph and goodwill messages from sister cooperative society in the College, was the inauguration and presentation of certificate ofreturnsto members of the new executive of the Cooperative Society.


Those inaugurated include Mr. Olasehinde J.A, President; Dr. (Mrs) Adenegan-Alakinde T, Vice-President; Mr. Olorunjubee I.O, General Secretary; Mr. Oladejo S.A, Treasurer as well as Mr. Abe Adeolu, Assistant General Secretary.


Others include Dr. Oladepo A.D, Board Member (Academic); Mr. Olawoye Olakunle John, Board Member (Non-Academic) and Mr. Orunko E.A, Ex-Officio member.


Speaking after the inauguration, a former President of ACECMS, Dr.Oyekan Samuel Oluseyi , advised the new officers to exhibit honesty, probity, openness and accountability in the discharge of their duties.


In his acceptance speech, the new President of the Cooperative Society, Mr. Olasehinde J.A, promised to serve with the best of his ability. He also pledged to sustain the legacy bequeathed to him by his predecessors.


The well attended ceremony was graced by the College Registrar, Mr. Felix Eniola Aderinboye; Acting Librarian, Mr. Akinade Awoyemi; Representative of the Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; Dean School of Science and Chairman Committee of Deans, Mr. Folorunso Balogun; Officials from the Cooperative Services, Ondo state, United Bank of Africa (UBA) and Skye Bank Plc as well as Mutual Benefit Life Assurance, Akure Branch office.


Others present include representative of the College of Education Academic Staff Union ( COEASU) ACE chapter Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Dr. RasheedOloyede; representative of ACE CMS II, Mr. Omobolade; members of ACECMS Ito mention but few.
